A laser can be dangerous to anybody exposed to it. Even low power lasers can be hazardous to a person's eyesight. They can be focused by the eye into an extremely small spot on the retina, resulting in localized burning and permanent damage in seconds. Infrared and ultraviolet lasers are particularly dangerous, since the bodies 'blink reflex', which can protect an eye from excessively bright light, works only if the light is visible.
Laser safety products have to be specifically matched to the corresponding laser wavelength, optical density and damage threshold requirements.
